The system for adapting people’s homes for reasons of age or disability is complicated, inconsistent and lacks respect for their wishes, AMs say. An inquiry report calls for a customer charter setting out people’s rights and how long the work should take.
The review also says the means testing system for disabled facilities grants is both complex and unfair.
The Welsh government welcomed the report and said it was committed to continuing to improve services.
BBC Wales reporter Rob Thomas spoke to Anglesey resident Bleddyn Rowlands. He said he had his bungalow adapted quickly following an accident, but knows of others who have had much longer waits.
