To mark World Autism Awareness Week, the UK’s leading autism charity, the National Autistic Society (NAS), announced today that it had become the Moneysupermarket group’s (MSM) charity partner. MSM’s ‘Dave’ helped launch the week with his trademark #EpicStrut.
More than one in one hundred people have autism in the UK, and the new partnership, which will last for two years, will help the NAS fund vital emotional and practical support for thousands of individuals, families and carers affected by the lifelong condition.
World Autism awareness Week runs from 27 March – 2 April and the NAS is encouraging supporters to ‘stand out for autism’ in some way: from sharing their personal stories on social media to getting involved in local ‘Stand Out’ fundraisers.
Dave, whose #EpicStrut has made MoneySuperMarket’s current TV advert such a success, made a special guest appearance, much to the delight of staff, at the NAS’ head office in London. NAS Chief Executive, Mark Lever, said: “We are delighted to be chosen as MSM’s charity partner for 2015-16 and that ‘Dave’s’ #EpicStrut and ‘standing out’ has helped bring attention to this important week – pictures of Dave have been liked by over 22,000 of our Facebook followers!
“Some of MSM’s intrepid staff have already pledged to run, cycle and climb mountains for us, and we are so grateful to them for their energy and commitment to increasing public awareness of autism.”
