LCiL has secured a loan for £130,000 from the Key Fund to stage its “Choice Unlimited” events across the country.
The Choice Unlimited trade fairs put disabled people in touch with organisations and businesses which can support independent living and active participation in society through their services – ranging from professional care, to products and leisure activities.
The funding will support a massive expansion of the Choices Unlimited concept, following three successful expos in Leicester, plus others in Nottingham and Surrey, which have attracted thousands of disabled people and hundreds of exhibitors.
Nationally, the “purple pound” – the term given to the spending power of people with disabilities – is worth more than £200bn a year.
The Key Fund money is paying for additional staff so that LCiL can expand the Choice Unlimited programme. An expo at the Leicester Tigers Stadium on April 16th will be followed by other events in:
May 2015: Birmingham
June 2015: Lincoln
June 2015: Worcester
July 2015: London
August 2015: Cheshire
September 2015: Surrey
October/November 2015: Nottingham
