The Motability Scheme is celebrating 10 years of successful One Big Day events by returning to Manchester, the city where it all started, to host The Big Event in 2017.
The Big Event will take place at EventCity at the Intu Trafford Centre on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 May 2017. The flagship, two-day event will showcase the UK’s biggest display of cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs available to disabled people.
Free to enter, with free parking, there will also be plenty of helpful Motability Scheme advisors to chat to, including representatives from the Scheme partners, RAC, RSA and Kwik Fit. A wide variety of cars – including a range fitted with popular adaptations – will be available to test drive, allowing visitors to discover which vehicle best suits their needs.
Alison Beasley, One Big Day event organiser at Motability Operations Ltd, said:
“It’s fantastic that our One Big Day events continue to attract so many visitors ten years after they started, and it’s really due to the fact that they offer something different, they enable disabled motorists to find out everything they need to know about the Motability Scheme, all in one place. Visitors can do everything from gathering practical advice about the vehicles available through the Scheme, to the hands-on experience of a test drive.
“The events have come a long way over the last ten years, growing from one annual event to five summer shows across the UK. We’re excited that we’ll be back in Manchester in 2017, the city where it all began, to mark the 10th anniversary year. Since hosting our inaugural One Big Day at Old Trafford in 2007, we’ve helped more than 100,000 visitors find out more about worry-free mobility with the Motability Scheme and facilitated almost 8,500 test drives. The Big Event is such a great opportunity for disabled motorists to see a wide collection of vehicles in one place and next year’s fun-filled anniversary event will definitely be one to remember.”
As well as meeting Scheme experts and finding out all there is to know about leasing a car, scooter or powered wheelchair on the Scheme, there’s also lots of fun to be had. Younger visitors will be entertained with free face painting, balloon modelling and the chance to meet the Motability Scheme mascot Billy the Bear while the adults enjoy a complimentary cup of tea, coffee or a soft drink.
