Smouldering on a photo shoot, this young woman is having the last laugh on a gang who attacked her for having Asperger syndrome.  Sophie Russell, 16, suffered a broken nose in the assault last year by a pack of nine cowards outside her school.

The teenager from Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, needed reconstructive surgery and was unable to attend lessons for 10 months.

However, she has since reached a modelling contest final, and if she wins will appear on the cover of a glossy mag.

Sophie said: She said: “All of my surgery and counselling is now complete and my life is going extremely well.

“I thank the people who beat me up because I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

“I’ve become a much better person – I’m much more ambitious, it’s thanks to them.”
