Aditya Chakrabortty has written a really interesting article for the Guardian today entitled ‘Cameron’s workers v shirkers scam has at last exposed the Tory law of benefit cuts?’. It discusses the leaked paper that proposes options for more cuts to disability benefits and brings to light a new report by LSE academics ‘Is Welfare Reform working’. This report is based on two rounds of interviews (2013 and 2014) with 200 people who are all social housing tenants of working age living in the south-west of England. It highlights some very harsh realities and struggles that people are facing on a daily basis as a direct result of the cuts to benefits.
