Her invitation came from Mencap’s patron, Her Royal Highness Sophie, Countess of Wessex, in recognition of Lorainne’s hard work to support people with a learning disability during her time at the charity.
Lorainne, who has a learning disability herself, had a great time. She said:
“The whole day was brilliant and I couldn’t believe my luck, it was a bit overwhelming but everybody was just so nice and pleasant. It was the best day I’ve ever had!
“The Queen, Charles and Camilla were there. Kate was there too and I really liked her canary yellow outfit and she looked really happy talking to the people.
“I really liked the music there and I was humming along. And the band played Ricky Martin which I loved. I got my picture taken with one of the Beefeaters too.”
In preparation for the big event, Lorainne received a complimentary blow dry at top London salon Taylor Taylor in Shoreditch, and was treated to a make-over by Bobbi Brown make-up artist Lisa Hewlett.
She said: “I’ve never been pampered before in my life. It was brilliant!”
