The release of the One Direction movie, One Direction: This Is Us, has this week seen thousands of screaming fans camping out to catch a glimpse of the boy band at the London premier of the film, all in the hopes that they will get an autograph or a picture with the boys. However, for 4 year old Milli Hamilton from Uddingston, Scotland, she has something even more unique to boast about. A personalised One Direction set of spoke guards for her wheelchair, that no one else owns.
Milli was born with spina bifida and uses a wheelchair on a daily basis and is a huge One Direction fan. Her grandmother, Marion Dias, thought it would be a great idea to source some spoke guards to personalise Milli’s wheelchair with her favourite boy band and set about finding out how she could do this.
Marion contacted Frank Rodgers of SpokeGuards to enquire about getting a picture of One Direction printed onto spoke guards for MIlli’s wheelchair last September. Frank Rodgers contacted One Direction’s management to secure permission to use an image of the boys on Milli’s spoke guards and following a few months of communication, as this had not been a request they had ever received, permission was finally granted.
Milli received her one of a kind spoke guards, personalised with an image of One Direction and her name, just a few weeks ago, and just in time for her starting school, where she is the envy of all her friends.
Her grandmother, Marion, has been contacted by many parents asking how they can get a set for their children, so if you are interested in getting a set, contact Frank Rodgers at SpokeGuards on 07584 207019, email enquiries@spokeguards.co.uk or visit www.spokeguards.co.uk.
