Love will be in the air this Valentine’s Day at a Paisley care home, as residents are inviting friends, family and members of the local community to join them for an afternoon tea dance.

Bupa’s Braemount Care Home, on Donaldswood Road, is welcoming Paisley locals to don their dancing shoes and come along this Wednesday (15 February) from 3pm for a romantic afternoon of live music, dancing, tea and nibbles.

Community tea dances are particularly beneficial for the care home’s residents, as they encourage meeting and socialising with new people, and gentle exercising such as dancing has proven to be therapeutic for elderly people.

Steven Drennan, Activity Coordinator at Bupa’s Braemount care home, said: “We try to encourage our residents to get involved in the local community as much as possible, and holding a Valentine’s tea dance is the perfect way to do this.

“Valentine’s is the perfect time for being with those you love, so we’re inviting all our residents’ friends and family along for the event.

“However, we also want to open the invitation to all members of the local Paisley community, as our residents love to meet and mingle with new people, as do all the staff.

“The tea dance also encourages the residents to move around and get a little active, which has many positive benefits, but most of all, it’s simply a really fun and enjoyable afternoon.”

Those living in the Paisley area and beyond are encouraged to get involved by visiting Braemount Care Home, 21 Donaldswood Road, Paisley from 3pm on Wednesday 15 February. Those interested can call 0141 884 1260 for further information, or turn up on the day.
