At this year’s TES FE Awards Foxes Academy, an independent provider of specialist education, has been awarded the Overall FE Provider of the Year and Specialist Provider of the year awards.
They were chosen from a shortlist of 100 individuals and organisations across 17 categories, but the judging panel were unanimous on their choice: “The Academy aims to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to successfully shape their own futures,” the TES FE Awards judges said.
“The provider’s engagement with local employers was exceptional, offering real pathways for their learners, as were its 100 percent pass rates in all formal examinations and assessments in 2016-17.”
A brilliant 73% of Foxes Academy leavers from the past three years have entered employment, with help from their unique training and educational facilities: the Academy has a hotel, Foxes Hotel, which is open to the public and gives real-world education to their students. Partnering with Hilton Worldwide, they are able to provide employment opportunities in a number of Hilton hotels.
A Disability Confident Leader, they offer work experiences at over 50 different locations and provide training in soft skills, that ensure students receive life skills that can be taken into the workplace.
Principal, Tracey Clare-Gray said: “We give our learners a real-life learning environment. We run Foxes Hotel, staffed by our learners. Real deadlines, real work and a real shift pattern. Our local community is viewed as a learning environment.
“The young people live in houses where they develop their soft skills, so valued in life, thus ensuring successful employment opportunities. Our graduates are work ready, and they are life ready. That is good for society, the economy and for these inspiring young people who bring untold benefits to their workplaces.”
