Sledge Hockey Page_[7667]_488_0_0After the recent three game series against Estonia the British Sledge Hockey Association are pleased to announce the team to represent Great Britain at the 2013 Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships (Pool B). 

The event will take place in Nagano, Japan on 10-16 March. In order to progress to the Paralympic qualification tournament later in this year GB need to secure a top 3 finish.

The Great Britain team are in a group with Japan and Poland, with the other group featuring Estonia, Germany and Slovakia.

GB Sledge Hockey Elite Programme Director, John Neville, said: “We are going with our strongest team and are going with the target of securing a medal position and progressing to the Paralympic qualification tournament later this year. Since 2010 we have been building a robust, transparent and sustainable programme which has shown an upward trajectory in terms of results.”

“Our recent series against Estonia demonstrates we are capable of competing against the other teams fighting to qualify for Sochi and has given us an invaluable opportunity to fine tune our game”, added John.

GB Head Coach, Andy Linton said: “The World Championships in Japan will be our toughest test to date with all the teams fighting to keep their hopes of Paralympic qualification alive. “We have a strong and well prepared team that believes in itself and which has the ability to win games”.
