A HOTEL has come under fire for banning kids with Down syndrome – because they “might annoy other guests.” Hotel CaboGata Plaza Suites on Spain’s Costa del Sol refused a reservation for a group of disabled children who were planning to celebrate the end of their school year.
But the hotel in Almeria said it would not allow the children to sleep there because “these kinds of people might annoy other guests”.
The charity which organised the event for the kids slammed the shock ban.
Down Espana reported the incident to authorities as “a clear case of discrimination against disabled people”.
The hotel’s management apologised for the incident, saying it was “a misunderstanding”.
They claimed that “in 35 years of business we have never refused access to guests with Down syndrome” who “have been, are, and always will be very welcome.”
