With The Chase’ ‘Governess’ Anne Hegerty all signed up and ready to launch herself into jungle life this Sunday as I’m a Celebrity returns to our screens, we are remembering her brilliant appearance on The Wright Stuff discussing living Autism while getting excited to see her out of her quiz show element.

The 60-year-old quizzer told ITV bosses she didn’t want to be treated with “kid gloves” in the dreaded and toe-curling Bushtucker Trials or have her celeb camp mates feel sorry for her, having previously been very vocal about the condition.

“I do respond well to structure,” she said ahead of the programme launch.

“I think it will be quite structured in there. I will understand, ‘at this time I have to fetch wood and water’ – doing that will make sense. But being surrounded by people I can’t get away from or those who talk all the time can be a source of stress.”

But if her candid and straightforward approach to discussing her disability on the now defunct Wright Show in January is anything to go by, there shouldn’t be much awkwardness or beating around the Australian bush.

The Chaser’s razor sharp tongue and encyclopedic knowledge should make her contribution to the cast an entertaining one, and we can’t wait to see her take on a trial with Dec and Holly.
