HE lost his arms and legs to the Taliban, but they couldn’t take his heart — that has always belonged to his devoted girlfriend.

These moving photos, part of a series that chart the incredible story of Taylor Morris, capture that love.

The 23-year-old lost both legs, his right hand and most of his left arm in a bomb blast in Afghanistan in May and girlfriend Danielle Kelly played a huge part in his recovery.

The US Marine was serving with the elite Explosive Ordinance Disposal team when he was critically injured.

Made famous by Oscar-winning 2008 film The Hurt Locker, EOD specialists defuse improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Taylor was leading a team through Kandahar when an IED beneath him blew up.

He says: “As soon as I stepped on it, I knew. I felt the heat. I knew I had lost my legs.

“As I somersaulted through the air, I watched my legs fly off.”

Still conscious, he bravely told his comrades NOT to try to help him in case they set off another bomb.

Another EOD specialist eventually cleared the area around Taylor so a medic could treat him.

Three days later he was flown back to America and a hospital in Washington DC.

And with the help of high-school sweetheart Danielle, he became only the fifth person ever to recover from a four limb amputation.

He has shown incredible strength and bravery to defy all expectations in terms of his recovery.

Taylor, from Cedar Falls, Iowa, is now walking unaided on prosthetics and has a prosthetic left arm.

His remarkable story has been carefully documented by his photographer friend Tim Dodd.

The touching images show Taylor being carried up stairs on Danielle’s back, her kissing him while sitting on his knee and them working together on his rehabilitation exercises.

Another shot shows the couple in all their finery, dancing at a friend’s wedding back in Cedar Falls.

The pictures have helped Taylor’s story to go viral — an article on US website Buzzfeed.com titled A Love Story In 22 Pictures has now been read by more than TWO MILLION people online.

He and Danielle have also been inundated with offers to appear on US chat shows including the Today Show, Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
A fundraising page was set up by the first website to interview Taylor, to help him and Danielle fulfil their dream of buying a log cabin.
Within 24 hours it had topped $250,000 (£154,000) — with further offers of help pouring in.
