Fast food chain Pizza Hut reportedly refused a booking from a group of disabled children because their carers would not be eating with them.
New Hope charity organiser Jean Wilson had wanted to take the children out for lunch at the chain restaurant in Worcester.
“Mrs Wilson, 53, who runs the charity that caters to disabled kids, has said it was “disgusting” management staff at the Shrub Hill Retail Park branch refused service.”
“As she explained carers would be present to help the children eat their food, as opposed to eating themselves, she was denied a table.”
Pizza hut did not want people in the restaurant who would not be eating and spending money, though the children’s carers instead of eating themselves would have been pushing wheelchairs and attending to the children’s needs.
The treatment the group received was disgusting and discriminatory.
Pizza Hut have spoken out regarding the incident, admitting their handling of the situation was wrong, and have offered a good will gesture to New Hope charity. Read the full story at The Sun online.
