As part of Back Care Awareness Week, October 2 – 8, Hastings Adventure Golf has invested in back-friendly ‘ball retrievers’.
These little gadgets, often referred to as ‘toppers’ because the little rubber accessory fits neatly to the top of the putter grip, make the game of crazy golf accessible to all by eliminating the need to bend down to pick up the golf ball.
With more than 20 players a week requesting the use of one at the Hastings mini golf complex, the simple accessory has proven very popular among back suffers in the town.
Simon Tompkins of Hastings Adventure Golf said: “We feel it’s very important to be able to accommodate players of all abilities. Anyone who has experienced back-pain will understand how debilitating it can be so we are delighted to offer these ball retrievers to players who need them. The ‘topper’ is fantastic and removes the need to bend down to pick up the golf ball – often the simplest of inventions are the best!”
Hastings Adventure Golf also provides mobility putters for wheelchair users and its three 18 hole courses are wheelchair and push-chair friendly.
Back pain is the largest single cause of disability in the UK, with lower back pain alone accounting for 11% of the total disability of the UK population.
