Department of ability – A new breed of superheroes. Born to be different, born to save the world.
We are so excited that the February/March issue has been featured in Department of Ability’s BBC News video. Department of Ability the inclusive superhero comic launching this year, exclusively designed our cover and features inside the magazine.
Department of Ability is the incredible superhero comic, featuring a new breed of superheroes all with disabilities who use them to their advantage. Dan White, who’s amazing daughter Emily has Spina-Bifida, created the comic after being unable to find TV programmes and literature Emily could relate to. Dan aims to address the issues of under-representation of disabilities in the spotlight with the comic. Department of Ability is taking the world by storm.
Department of Ability’s incredible work on the comic is featured in this short video they have produced with the BBC. Dan talks of his plans for the comic with Emily by his side with her own ideas for the comic as leader of the superhero gang. In the video we are also introduced a new superhero character ‘Blade Boy’ the superhero alter ego of the adorable Rio Woolf.
