A unique digital radio station with listeners across the world, run by people with a range of disabilities, welcomed special guest visitors this week.
Direction Radio, which celebrated its first birthday earlier this year, welcomed Tony King and Dave Ford to the studio.
Based in Epsom, Surrey, Direction Radio is managed and presented by Surrey Choices customers and provides a unique opportunity for people with a range of abilities to express themselves.
Direction Radio now has 16 regular presenters, and an additional 10 people who present the show remotely. Customers are given production and presentation training, and have control over their own show, from the jingle to the type of music they play.
Tony King and Dave Ford, both previously remixers from Pete Waterman Ltd, visited Direction Radio on Wednesday 30th November, to show their support for the station. Tony and Dave, who have remixed songs for Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, had a tour of the station and met with staff and customers. The gentlemen were interviewed by Martin Bell, one of Direction Radio’s presenters, which was his first interview.
Chris Fenn, Direction Radio project lead, said:
“We had a fantastic day with Tony and Dave in the studio, and they were both very impressed with the station and feel it is a brilliant project. We’re delighted to have them both as supporters of Direction Radio.
“Martin did a brilliant interview on the day, which we all had great fun recording. It is full of fun, laughter and energy, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
